Gabriel Fontana in white jeans and a white shirt with a light blue long-sleeved shirt, posing in front of the uniforms for his work "Multiform"

Gabriel Fontana

Gabriel Fontana is a designer recognized for his distinctive approach to social design, reshaping society through new sports games tailored to today’s world. The goal of his methods is to give people a playful way of experiencing what the prevailing norms of identity, community and inclusion really mean, and how we can bring about change. He uses sport as a perfect metaphor for society, where the idea of playing “against each other” is usually the norm. His game Multiform has been played in schools throughout Europe, showcased at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and recently acquired by MoMA—becoming the first queer sport to enter a museum collection. Multiform was developed in collaboration with philosopher Nathanja van den Heuvel and Rotterdam based primary and secondary schools, sport teachers and their pupils.
