He soon learns that his classmates each have magical pets called F.R.I.E.N.D.s, controlled by electronic devices and used to battle one another. Despite their playful appearances, these F.R.I.E.N.D.s are part of a sinister plot that threatens the entire town.
Jellyfish Eyes is the first live-action feature from acclaimed artist and director Takashi Murakami, combining his signature anime-inspired aesthetic with a story of imagination, friendship, and resilience. The film is currently on a U.S. screening tour of leading art institutions and cultural venues.
Before the screening, enjoy the animated music video “you should see me in a crown” (2019, 3:12 minutes), a collaboration between Billie Eilish and Takashi Murakami.
