Visitors can connect with local Indigenous groups, dance to curated DJ sets by deesco (Teme-Augama Anishnabai), enjoy food vendors, and participate in a family-friendly hands-on activity that celebrates the vibrant intersection of Los Angeles’s cultural heritage and natural environment with a custom board game designed and developed by artist, musician, researcher, and educator, Lazaro Arvizu Jr. (Gabrielino/Tongva).

LA NDN Flea — A Native Market is organized by The Chapter House, a space for Indigenous art, empowerment, and community. The Broad is proud to call The Chapter House a community partner. Together, we’ve hosted events and artmaking workshops that connect kids and families from across our shared communities.

Vendor list to be announced soon.

PLUS! After a day supporting Indigenous artists and artisans, spend your evening with a bellyful of laughs at Sage-Based Wisdom LIVE, a comedic offering of Native wisdom with hosts Jana Schmieding (Lakota) and Brian Bahe (Tohono O’odham, Hopi, Navajo), and Xiuhtezcatl, the quick-witted 21-year-old rapper with Mexica roots. Sage-Based Wisdom LIVE is separately ticketed, and space is limited. Get your tickets here.

The Chapter House

The Chapter House

The Chapter House cultivates Indigenous joy through art, performance, celebration, and collaboration to nurture a vibrant, re-emergent Indigenous identity in the 21st century.

A large part of the modern Native experience is protest. While protests are crucial to fight for Indigenous sovereignty and dignity, there are few spaces in urban centers off reservations for Natives to convene, discuss, and heal when protests end—and fewer that celebrate the importance of art and artists to Indigenous Peoples.

The Chapter House is a place for Indigenous Peoples and allies to appreciate art, convene and collaborate, celebrate individual and shared Indigenous cultures, and explore the complexities of the 21st Century Indigenous experience. This is a space for Indigenous empowerment and community, but all who share a desire for universal empowerment are welcome here.
